How can I help?

Before making the foray into copywriting, I spent five years as a columnist and features writer on an award-winning regional newspaper. Before that, I was knuckling down at university, earning a degree in English and Media, and putting my hand up for any kind of writing opportunity that came my way. I even penned a spoof agony aunt-style column with my chum, Michael. It appeared, on a semi-regular basis, in Huddersfield’s imaginatively-titled ‘The Hudds Student’ newspaper., and would go down in history as a piece of writing that probably only my parents (and Michael’s parents) read.

It was a good job my local newspaper later gave me a shot, or I might still be writing stuff that no one really read. While at the paper, I had a bash at everything from learning to play the didgeridoo (harder than it looks!) to dancing arm in arm with the pensioners of a sunny seaside resort at weekly tea dances - and it was all in the name of a great story.

My freelance copywriting work - from lifestyle-focused features to sales-led advertising copy - has appeared everywhere from NME magazine, to COMPANY.co.uk, Cloth magazine, Period Ideas, and QVC's customer beauty brochures.
